I can't say I like one more than the other because they are both amazing bands but I do listen to the Who with far greater frequency than I do Zep.
The Stones are my #1 and who I listen to probably 95% of the time and I crank up the Who about once or twice a month and that's always a pleasure and I listen to Zep maybe a couple times a year although that will increase slightly since a week ago I only had 1 Zep boot and now I have 4.
I've always loved the Stones, the Who, and Zep. The difference with Zep is though that I just don't crave listening to them nearly as much as I did in my younger days. I still think Zep is one of the mightiest bands to ever walk the earth but I don't have to listen to them that much anymore because I know if I do it's going to be great so what's the point, why waste my time. The Who I do still have to listen to though, their music is still more less part of my lifestyle and always will be near as I can tell plus they are a lot easier to listen to than Zep even though on paper Zep is probably the better band.
I totally agree, The Stones are #1, The Who are #2 & Zep are #3 in my opinion, now try telling this to Voodoopug who for some strange reason doesn't like Led Zep. |

When -- not if -- but WHEN the United States Military is literally FORCED to call for a re-instatement of the National Draft , the following is ALL you will hear on the radiowaves :

V
" We'll be fighting in the streets
With our children at our feet
And the morals that they worship will be gone
And the men who spurred us on
Sit in judgement of all wrong
They decide and the shotgun sings the song
I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
The change, it had to come
We knew it all along
We were liberated from the fold, that's all
And the world looks just the same
And history ain't changed
'Cause the banners, they are flown in the next war
I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
No, no!
I'll move myself and my family aside
If we happen to be left half alive
I'll get all my papers and smile at the sky
Though I know that the hypnotized never lie
Do ya?
There's nothing in the streets
Looks any different to me
And the slogans are replaced, by-the-bye
And the parting on the left
Are now parting on the right
And the beards have all grown longer overnight
I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
Don't get fooled again
No, no!
Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

Hi Honky Tonk Man,
Hendrix's playing is too abrasive for me. I need more melody. My faves are Pagey, Mick Taylor & Johnny Winter. |

Joey : A " It is not a question of choice .....our President has put this nation into a postion where the military will HAVE to call for a re-instatement of the draft . I can't believe ANYONE (except some girls) would pick Bob Plant over Roger Daltrey. Daltrey is obviously a better rock singer. And Plant sounds like a screechy white boy next to Mick.
Influences are one thing....Zep was sued by both Howlin wolf (Lemon song-Ripoff of "Killing Floor") and Willie Dixon, among others. (Whole Lotta Love was found to be plagiarized from a song Willie Dixon wrote called "You Need Love". Dixon's name now appears on the song along with Zep.
Also...
"Bring it on home" was originally credited to Page/Plant.
Now it's solely Willie Dixon on the DVD. And a new song"Bring it on back" was
created for the uptempo part of what used to be "Bring it on home"
Anne Bredon also has a credit on "Babe I'm gonna Leave you"
Originally credited (Trad arr-Jimmy Page)
They also ripped off much of "Since I've been Loving You" from Moby Grape,
"Communication Breakdown" from "Nervous Breakdown" by Eddie Cochran, and "How Many more times" from a song called "The Hunter"
And When the Levee Breaks from Memphis Minnie, and all 4 of them took
credit for "In My Time Of Dying" which they did'nt write (It's on Bob Dylans first album from 1962..) |

Good Morning Kilroy ................
I drink with Keith Moon quite frequently ( .... well , on the weekends mainly ) and -- let me tell you -- he is quite the character . Plus , the GUY CAN DRINK !!!!! . Man , the dude puts down a TREMENDOUS amount of alcohol every single night whilst most of me crew TRY to keep up with him -- if only for a few short minutes . Anyway , Keith wants me to tell everyone , " Hi " here on this most prodigious of forums [ read : message baords ] and that the rumours of a Led Zeppelin World Tour next year are indeed TRUE .
Plus , Keith mentioned that the Rolling Stones plan on touring the Far East next spring with a gig in Ho Chi Minh City , Vietnam ( .. formerly Saigon , South vietnam before the War Ended -- I wonder who won ?! ) a distinct , DISTINCT possibility . YES !!!!!
Additionally , look for gigs in Thailand , Burma , Dubai , and even Beijing ... AGAIN !!!!!!!!

The difference was....
Robert Johnson's songs were considered "public domain" (no songwriter
credit or copyright) they'd been regarded as "worthless" by the music industry of the 1930's (Gee...what a surprise..)
Whereas "You need love" was written by Willie Dixon and recorded by Muddy Waters in 1962.
It was copyrighted. Just like any song, by anybody.
These newer bluesmen recorded for Chess records
They were in the music business the same as everyone else.
It wasn't like long ago when songs had unknown writers.
(Greensleaves-Catfish Blues..etc)
It would've been like the Stones recording a sound-alike (and lyric-alike) version of 'Blue Suede shoe's or something.... and putting Jagger/Richards on it.
Willie Dixon copyrighted everything he did. He was a producer too (Chuck Berry.)
He sued Zep in 1989. When asked why he took 20 yrs, he said.
"I never listen to their music"
When people like the Stones and Clapton etc... were informed that Robert Johnson had a sister and it was time to pay-up. They did so.
According the Johnson's sister's Lawyer. They did'nt fight it at all.
I'd never heard the Stones were sued over anything other than "Off The Hook"
Please tell me more.
