Now, if only I'd seen Ol' Blue Eyes. Regrets, I've had a few...

Gazza Weird timing!!

I got that via a search on http://www.sinatraarchive.com
Cant say I'm an authority on Frank's setlists and bootlegs and the like, but glad I could track it down for ya. Apparently there IS a recording of it available but in poor quality.

Must have been awesome to see Sinatra sing "My Kind Of Town" to close a show in Chicago. One of my personal favourites.

I had the chance to see him at Lansdowne Road in Dublin in 1989 when he was on tour with Liza Minnelli and Sammy davis Jr. My missus was more the Sinatra fan than me but we passed as I didnt fancy sitting through the other acts and we were scared off I suppose by the reports from the Royal Albert Hall shows of ticket prices that were out of our league and the fact that the press were saying he was past it. I didnt know much of his stuff at the time and it wasnt until several years later that I really got to appreciate him.

Met some friends who were also of a more "rock n roll" disposition when in Dublin for Dylan a couple of weeks later and was amazed to hear them tell us they'd got very reasonably priced tickets and that Sinatra had blown them away.

To my knowledge he never played Ireland again after that and I never got the chance to see him again. To this day, if I had to pick one show that I had the chance to see and regret missing out on, its that one.

Good for you that you recognised even at a young age that you were seeing a legend and didnt pass up on seeing Elvis AND Sinatra. Lucky you!

glencar Elvis, Sinatra, the Stones & the White Stripes! LOL

Taptrick Interesting acquaintance related to Elvis. I met a guy named Sonny Neal of PEI while I was working for a country radio station in St Louis. Sonny would set up large outdoor concerts with multiple top country acts for a fee. Everyone told me that Sonny's father Bob Neal was Elvis' first manager and Sonny actually grew up hanging with Elvis a little in his late teens/early 20s. One day while looking through an Elvis mag I see a picture of Neal and Elvis water skiing together.

Maxlugar Rumor has it in 2002, Joey almost had a massive heart attack on the toilet trying to grunt a large impacted "Yellow Cake Uranium" turd after playing racquet ball in a white skin-tight jumpsuit.

He has been a poor excuse for a muse ever since.

MACKY!

I thought it was a guy called Jackie Kahane?

[Edited by Gazza]

Elvis' management would alternate the two. I think Shore opened mostly the West Coast shows.

BTW, that was an interesting Bob Neal story.

What can I say about The Chairman of the Board that no one doesn't already know, or SHOULD know.

Wow, you've made my evening by bringing back some great memories.
I had the privelage of seeing Sinatra at the Golden Nugget in downtown Vegas in the early 80s. Back then there wasn't reserved seatng at shows. In this case, all tickets were $50. We were with my wife's boss, his wife and other friends of theirs. The room held about 300 with seating either in tables or booths along the walls. It was first come first served but of course you did not seat yourself. We were seated by the back wall which were still good seats considering the size of the room. My wife's boss and his friends, who considered themselves high rollers, immediately pulled out their wallets and for $500 the 8 of us were moved to the front row.
Here I was in the front row seeing Frank Sinatra in this club setting. It was a truly unbelievable experience. The concert was beyond incredible.
Frank Sinatra was better at what he did than any other music artist of any other music genre, period.
Chairman of the Board, indeed.

Rick

glencar Frankie must have been better in person than on TV because towards the end of his life, Joe Piscopo did a better Frankie than the original.

telecaster Franks Dr: So you are telling me you have 20 drinks a day?

Frank: Yes

Franks Dr: I recommend you need to stop drinking. What do you think about that?

Frank: I think I need a new doctor

Ten Thousand Motels Elvis Presley Documentary in the Works

By The Associated Press

RALEIGH, N.C. - Filmmaker Ken Vrana will mark the 69th anniversary of Elvis Presley 's birth Thursday by working on his own "Tribute."

Vrana has traveled 250,000 miles over the past 3 1/2 years to collect 570 interviews for a documentary about Presley, who died at his Graceland home in Memphis, Tenn., on Aug. 16, 1977.

As fans mark Presley's birthday, Vrana will be editing his footage.

"Officially, we've completed the interviews," Vrana says. "Unofficially, I still have a wish list of about a dozen `big' people like Paul McCartney I'll continue to chase, to insert later if I can get them."

He plans to release "Tribute" as an 11-hour DVD box set, with a companion coffee-table book. It's not a profit-making venture: Vrana has spent $280,000 on the project so far and says any proceeds will go to charity.

Vrana wasn't much of an Elvis aficionado when he was working on another documentary called "The Fans," about devoted followers of NASCAR ,(professional wrestling, college basketball and Presley.

But the Elvis fans' stories stood out as worthy of their own film.

The cast of interview subjects eventually stretched well beyond fans, from Presley's old girlfriends and bandmates to other music legends such as Bill Monroe and B.B. King.

"Tribute" is being financed by Vrana's wife, Lisa, who is a marketing specialist and also his film editor.

"My wife was saying, `If we don't sell this, it will be one of the most expensive home movies of all time,'" he said.
