gimmekeef Tuesday night they re-start the tour.Do they continue with the same restricted setlist or like No Security in 99 change things up dramatically?...With wide open arenas yet to sell my hunch is they play it safe and give the average non fanatic the warhorses.Hope I'm Dead Flowers wrong!...
January 6th, 2006 12:05 PM
Jumping Jack The warhorses need practice for the Superbowl therefore no January changes to confuse them!
January 6th, 2006 12:30 PM
glencar I'd rather hear some 60's ballads instead of Wild Horses/Angie...

100% correct Sir..............
January 6th, 2006 01:00 PM
Dan It will be a similiar set, maybe a different new song or something. I only have 1 more show and I don't really care what they play.
January 6th, 2006 01:02 PM
gimmekeef If they drop Miss You and Tumblin Dice..and insert Gimmeshelter and more Exile stuff..I'd be real happy!
January 6th, 2006 01:08 PM
Dan Miss You was my favorite song this tour. Nowhere near as dragging or boring as 94 or 97. In San Diego all I could hear was blaring guitar, it was awesome. I don't think they will be dropping it anytime soon. The 5 people in the crowd who don't like that song were't very obvious from the stage therefore the band didn't get your message.

jb Miss U is a bore...........wastes 11 minutes of show time. To not play SFM or GS is a sin..........Night Time should be put to bed............sick of fats Lisa ..does she also have a special k requiring her to be featured and to ruin every song?

Miss You isn't even 6 mins this tour. Also, the way the B stage segment is choreographed, it really needs to be the same song going out and coming back.

Gimme Shelter is too slow and boring these days.

Mick prefers dancy songs like Miss You and Rain Fall Down

Chris Robinson was the only singer to perform Street Fighting Man & Gimme Shelter in '05

Agreed........this Night Time tribute is really getting old....at least in the past they used her on MR and MM(which she ruined as well)..........and Detroit is pissed!!!! They are pl;aying more Mow-Town/Blues than rap artists!!!!

Nice of him to occassionally play something the audience might recognize.

gimmekeef Gimmeshelter is a bore?..omg ..sacriledge Dan....lol....Well Lou Rawls musta had a hit they can do now....as well as Let it Bleed/All Down the Line/Hot Stuff/Lovin Cup....ohh the choices!
January 6th, 2006 02:15 PM
voodoopug The setlist will not change aside from MAYBE one song. We (true stones fans) should embrace what it is they do play for us. Sadly when SFM was performed on NYE....the sound must have been awful as there was not a full house of people to absorb the sound....en entire level was roped off....WIDE OPEN!

Black Crowes aren't an arena level band. The sound would be fine if you are close to the sound source. Now the sound for Judas Priest at Long Beach Arena was awful but I had a crummy upper deck ticket even though it only sold 6000 in a full arena tier seating configuration so it was like a few people in each section.

jb I enjoyed both the 69, 72, 73, 81 versions of SFM.....never better than with MT on Brussels boot..........and very funky on 81 tour. Licks was hit and miss..............

you will enjoy the Crowes version. VERY true to the great Taylor era 72/73 version. You'll swear MT himself is playing on it.

My b uddy Ripper 25 made me a greatest hits BC cd with 3 Stones covewrs(Happy, Torn and Frayed, and Silver Chain). I will need to obtain the oither songs...I love the Crowes and don't know why you are met with such resitence...they are one of the few bands that understand the Stones and what they meant to rock ....Rich Robinson and Marc Ford are fucking killer on guitars...simply fantastic imo.

Few bands? If its only a few (which it isn't) then they probably didn't mean that much after all.

They don't mean that much to current band at all...the Stones alwasy have been and alwasy will be the largest niche band in history.....the fact that we know how great they are compared to the more popular bands, simply makes us better.

They aren't a niche band by any stretch of the imagination. They are about as mainstream as you can get. But to tell you the truth, I don't pay attention to who name drops them, I don't need any 2nd party validation of my musical tastes.

I am not at all surprised by your understanding and appreciation of The Black Crowes, as you are a man of exquisite taste.

I will send you a killer Crowes comp. I will include a copy for your buddy Ripper too.

You must lead a sad lonely existence. And both Steel Wheels and Voodoo Lounge were hits.
