Ronnie Wood Starts Stamp Collecting
To stay off the demon drink...
by Scott Colothan on 04/01/2006
Wrinkly Rolling Stones rocker Ronnie Wood has take drastic measures to stay off the wagon – he’s started stamp collecting.
The guitarist has twinned his new passion for stamps with his favourite pastime of painting to battle the demon drink.
A source told The Sun: "He is fascinated by it. Since he's out of rehab and trying to stay on the straight and narrow he has to find things to occupy his brain.
"He gets assistants to go to specialist shops trying to buy the best stamps. He's very proud of his collection."

Whatever works... Having to tour with Mick and Keef isn't easy... He's also not smoking...
My hats off to him...
I fear after the tour is over and he realizes how wide open and bustful it was, he will return to his old ways... |

If it means he's less likely to be pushing up daisies in a year's time, better a saddo than a stiffo |

i think ronnie would be more famous as a guitarist dead than alive.
And before the outrage at that comment begins. NO i do not wish the man dead. |

I doubt 'being more famous' is much use to him when he's dead
Cant imagine becoming more famous at this stage is his main motivation, somehow |

Being a Sun reader, I had a little chuckle at this article yesterday, but this last paragraph makes me laugh the most. How can this really be a hobby of his when he's obviously not doing any of his own hunting? Instead, he's sending specialists out to choose the best stamps. Surely the idea is to collect stamps you like the look of from around the globe, NOT to just send a specialist out so you're guaranteed to have a wonderful collection. |

By the way,
"Die Post" means The Post Office in German.
I found that out when I went to Austria and bought those Rolling Stones' stamps. (Noooooooooooo! I did not travel all the way to Austria, just to buy the stamps, I happened to be on a tour of Europe. It was just a coincidence that the stamps came out the same time I was there.
P.S. I agree. The fun part of collecting is looking for it. And, not knowing when or where you're going to find it! I collect Rolling Stones' records, and I love going to records stores, thrift stores and flea markets and looking through the bins! And, the thrill I get when I finally find one that I need!
I remember how happy I was when I found Sticky Fingers with the Andy Warhol zipper! I was like, "Yeah!"
And, the day I find, Their Satanic Majesties Request on vinyl, I will probably pee my pants! |
