Topic: The adventures of Stones in Brazil... Return to archive
January 2nd, 2006 02:55 PM
Jair Last nite, the Globo TV network (the one that will broadcast the Stones concert in Copacabana Beach) started a new board on the program named "Fantastico", exhibited all Sunday nites.

The board's name is something like "The Adventures of The Rolling Stones in Brazil".

Then, yesterday they showed two different funny episodes:

First: a vehicle Kombi 1.6, in 1975, FULL of Mick Jagger suitcases, being drove until Mick's place - in this case, a house rent from his friend and actress Florinda Bolkan. Mick paid five thousand dollars by the rent.
(Wow, what a friend!!!

Second - Mick is on the swimming pool with Bianca and Jade + Florinda Bolkan. Then Mick notice there's a paparazzo taking shots. He wears a robe, goes until the house entrance and see a Volkswagen, with the doors opened. Mick get the car keys and, smiling, show the keys to the photographer.
They didnt say if Mick gave back the keys...

PS - Starting this Tuesday 03, the Globo TV will show, at 1:13 AM (!!!), every day, two minutes about the band. The name is "Momento Rolling Stones".

corgi37 I swear to God i aint lying when i say i am itching to go to Brazil. I want to climb to the Redeemer. I want to party like its 2009. I want so badly to wear a thong on Copacabana, i so badly want to re-trace Jaggers footsteps from the "Running out of luck" video.

Brazil looks awesome.

P.S. Gonna have to keep my eye on the transvestites and death squads though. Particularly, the transvestite death squads!

A very nice new Stones book comes from Brazil. Although I don't speak any Portugese I'm very pleased with it because of the many great and unseen pictures, especially from Mick and Marianne's trip in January 1968 (Mick with a full beard!) and Mick, Marianne, Keith and Anita's trip in December 1968/January 1969 (see coverfoto). The book comes in A4, with 214 pages (incl. many colour and b&w photos). I ordered my copy directly from the publisher Ampersand and they did a good service. Book "Os Rolling Stones No Brasil" by Nelio Rodrigues (Ampersand Editoria, Rio De Janeiro; ISBN: 85-86135-11-9)

Sacanagem mesmo, né, Gustavo? A 1h da manhã ninguém aguenta.
Cara, tu tem o livro do Nélio? Vale a pena?

claudiomoraleida gustavo,

Marku Ribas played Agogo, Cuica (brazilian percussion) and another instrument (I cant remember right now) on the track "Back To Zero" ...He is not credited on the album sleeve, due to contractual issues....He was payed 5000 francos (french money)... Ian Stu said to him that they could give him the credit, but it would cause problems with the Record Company..He said it wouldn't be necessary...

I talked over the phone and he told me funny things...
He's a very friendly guy, live here in my hometown

Jair So, last nite, the second part of the show was about Mick Taylor. He (MT) said that he left the Stones because he was too shy -- and didnt tell more details.

They showed MT also in Rio de Janeiro in 1974, with Brazilian friends, a bass player and a moviemaker. Both said MT was a quiet guy. One of them, the moviemaker, told a fucking funny story:

One night, they go out to a party and, back home, the car had a problem, so MT left the vehicle and helped to push it. So, a guy who was passing buy, saw that and said: just in Brazil to see one scene like that, a Rolling Stone pushing a car!!!
