Ten Thousand Motels Which Zep albums don't you like and why?
I gotta hear this.
December 27th, 2005 06:10 PM
Scottfree Coda, and Presence, because they plain suck....

Zep 1 is my fave....
December 27th, 2005 06:24 PM
Ten Thousand Motels

This album has alot of sentimental value to me. It accompanied my first and only pysilosybin trip, 1971 I think.
December 27th, 2005 06:29 PM
lotsajizz Presence is their best

the first is their most pedestrian
December 27th, 2005 06:35 PM
malja316 I love Led Zep, one of my alltime favorite bands...but I gotta tell ya...Houses of the Holy is just not one of my favorites...I think the vocals on that record sound horrible...I think the songs that are on this album sound 1000 times better live than they do on this record...

December 27th, 2005 06:43 PM
Ihavelotsajam All of them.

All of them have Plant's insufferable wailing, long masturbatory guitar solos, and stolen uncredited riffs/lyrics. If not, then they have lots of insufferable Lord of the Rings lyrics.

Don't act like it's inconceivable to dislike Zeppelin.

There are plenty of people who don't even remotely like any Stones albums either, and that's not the end of the world.

No kidding. They apparently initially wanted to make The Song Remains the Same an instrumental. Why the hell did that not happen? Instead, we have absolutely unlistenable studio-mangled sped-up vocals that are even worse than Plant's normal voice.

Houses of the Holy should have been released 5 years later. Too soon after Zep IV. The hard act to follow syndrome.

Dan I LOVE Presense, its the only record of theirs I still listen to.
December 27th, 2005 07:02 PM
Gazza Presence is an album I've never been able to warm to

IV, Physical Graffitti and the much-derided In Through The Out Door are my favourites

Great band but I find most of their albums patchy
December 27th, 2005 07:03 PM
jb They are amatuerish hacks....they are for people 12 to 18 who have acne.

My feelings exactly. Some really great, epic songs, but it is a bit of a chore to get through an full album (particularly since they have gotten such heavy radio play over the years). I very much enjoyed the Page/Plant concerts though.

M.O.W.A.T. I was once a huge Zep fan, but over the years, I have found their sound to be somewhat dated.

In the day, I used to love:

LZ II
LZ IV
In Through The Out Door

Could not stand:

Presence
The Song Remains The Same

or at least "Rock and Roll" possibly Stu's finest boogie-woogie piano on record.

Martha Physical Graffitti is a masterpiece in my opinion.

Yes, jb, I am an acne-riddled 48 year old Zep fanatic.

quackenbush I have all of their stuff on tape and haven't listened to any of them since high school. They play too many solos, Plant's voice is irritating and the lyrics are pretentious.

Yeah, thats how I see most of their albums. Some truly golden moments on most of them, but always tons of filler.

Their best song - HHWCID - was their closest to a Stones song and sadly never made it to an album.

Soldatti IV is their best, with II in a close second.

In The Evening

Hey, Hey What Can I Do (aka Street Corner Girl).

Same tastes Gazza, When The Levee Breaks, In the Evening, along with Tangerine, Ramble On and Black Country Woman.

I saw Zep once, when I was 12, my first real show. Stoned off my ass, scared as hell by what I was hearing.

Egbert "I played their album quite a few times when I first got it, but then the guy's voice started to get on my nerves. I don't know why; maybe he's a little too acrobatic. But Jimmy Page is a great guitar player."

Keef on LZ (I), NME 1969

I concur. In Through The Out Door is for me their worst album, mainly due to the inclusion of "Hot Dog."

Here's an interesting article for LZ naysayers:

marko Best album:1,3 and Physical Graffiti.

Best live band,with stones EVER.

Best shows
29.9.71 Osaka
25.6.72 La
28.6.72 Tucson
16.3.73 Vienna
28.2.75 Baton rouge
21.3.75 seattle over 200mins......
21.6.77 La
23.6.77 la,with Moon
27.6.77 la,this show runs about 220mins

best tour is actually 1970-1971..

Their bootlegs are much more interesting than stones.
They have tons of SBD´s,and recordings are overall much
better quality.I have 75,77 shows, which sounds better than
some ABB boots.
