Thank fuck for that. The less of those ego-trippers at shows the better (present company excepted as youre a real fan).

Its called equality. Apparently he doesnt believe in one section of his fanbase getting priority over the rest (in this case, based on wealth). Much fairer system, although personally I wish he did have some kind of fan club package (NOT like the Stones/Fan Asylum rip offs, which are a disgrace) which would cut down on some of the scalping and e-bay crap.

He's taken measures against that on previous tours, but on the last 2 ESB tours, its been GA on the floor so the issue of scalpers and brokers buying up front row floor seats doesnt really arise

Pearl Jam does the same thing, which to a point I like, but also I dislike that I usually end up in the first ten rows next to someone who inevitably vomits on himself.

Gazza's attack on the theory aside, I believe a "Young Jack Cohl" approach to Bruce's tickets would help keep those willing to pay a bit more for tickets out of harms way.

Jake's techniques for filling up the house are second to none as far as profitability goes and he should not be attacked.

and the problem with being fan friendly for a rock n roll audience is what, exactly?

Tickets for the US shows are $99. I think the Giants Stadium shows announced today also have some cheaper ones. Its funny reading on the Springsteen sites people complaining about how much his prices have gone up in recent years! LOL

during the last Pearl Jam tour, fans on that site complained that tickets went up to $50 each.

Being fan friendly keeps the long time die hard fans away because of fears of unruly crowds IMO. For newer bands, the theory is fine and necessary , but for established bands, fans should be asked to financially contribute a decent ticket price to accommodate the artist's wages.

jb Springsteen is worth like 200 million plus, so it's time to start realizing his audience is very affluent and WILL pay more if he goes more corporate like the Stones...it makes sense!!!!

This fucking audience member certainly isnt!

Then again, thats mainly thanks to an unhealthy obsession with another artist...

As opposed to someone vomiting into a Gucci handbag or asking their date "which one is Mick"?

I have yet to see someone vomit in the top dollar seats when I attend, but that would offend me. When I sat in front of Tommy Hilfiger, his date (wife?) was very respectful and did not ask to identify the members of the band. But yes, I'd prefer this to some vomiting on the floor and urinating in an empty beer bottle.

jb You used to be my party doll
But now you say the partys over
You used to love to honky tonk
But now the honky tonkings over
Now life is a bitter thing, my sweet
Now life is a mystery to me
Loves pain, I aint buying
Loves strange. I keep trying, trying, trying

You used to be my party doll
But now you want to live in clover
You used to be my number one
But now those salad days are over

Times change but fascination stays
Love wins but the passion just fades
Ill drink to the dancing days
Ill drink to your crazy ways
Through the whiskey haze

Face the music, face the truth
Chase that fleet sweet bird of youth
Grow up sweetly, grow up strong
Hear the heartbeat, in my song

Loves pain, I aint buying
Loves strange. I keep trying, trying, trying

You used to be my party doll
But now you say the partys over
You used to love to honky tonk
But now those dancing days are over
You used to be my number one
But now you vanished in the ozone

please explain the "salad days" comment, is this European slang, or did Keith and Mick enjoy chopping vegetables at one point?
