Topic: Rehersals? Return to archive Page: 1 2
12-30-02 12:13 PM
Maxlugar Shouldn't we be hearing rumors, at least, of the next set of rehersals?

Or do you think they are just going to go back out there without any?

I'm hoping a few new chestnuts are going to be thrown in.

12-30-02 12:17 PM
Joey I don't know about all of that , but don't you think you should be firming up your travel plans to Denver for the Feb. 1st Stones concert ?

TheSavageYoungXyzzy They'll probably fly out to Toronto about a week before the first show and get their acts back together after their vacations.

And then further Stonings will commence.

Over at Stonesdoug's, somebody's convinced there's gonna be another club gig on January 6, but I *highly* doubt it and will continue to doubt it until Sergei tells us otherwise.

-tSYX --- Stealing my harrrrt....
12-31-02 08:04 AM
Maxlugar I doubt they would need the whole Toronto thing again. They just need a good week of jamming. Why not hit a few small clubs around Manhattan for a warmup?

Come on guys!
12-31-02 09:11 AM
luxury1 Max, MOntreal is next up--they will be doing a surprise club gig there--just for me!! I hear they have a certain hotel booked from Jan 5-9--the entire hotel, as I was told when I tried to book my room there!! SO it makes sense that they will be warming up in that beautiful city. Oh god, I hope I am there on time!!!!!!!!!!!
12-31-02 09:17 AM
SERGEI The entourage hits montreal on Jan 2, then the stones a few days later, no news of club show yet
12-31-02 09:26 AM
Nellcote SERGEI SPEAKS!!
12-31-02 09:43 AM
winter Nellcote:

Amigo, how are you? Too bad about our Pats - but at least they squished the fish and knocked them out of the playoffs as well.

My canes are gonna open up a can of whoop ass on the Buckeyes this friday, and I'll be drinking margaritas and eating nachos in Tempe-

Hope to see you on the 12th

Nellcote Wintah;

Oh yeah! Oh yeah! It's the Fleet on 01/12. Man, after this past Sunday, can't come sooner. Canes should prevail easily. Pats lost it for themselves. If only coach had brought out the trophy every week, to remind them that golf in January moans! Anyway, as written Sunday in the Projo, we'll always have New Orleans....Did you every make it to the Corner Oyster Bar & Grill, across from the Hard Rock? It was, the rockingist place in Nawlins!

Sully's is it, maybe the Harp for some grub, however, Sully's! See ya there!
12-31-02 10:05 AM
winter Didn't make it to the corner oyster bar, sorry I missed it.

As for the 12th, Sully's is great, one criticism though - they played no Stones music before the last fleet show.

I'll probably start early and split my time between the Harp and Sully's. I hoping to get in early enough to check out Ryan Adams. He is great. His new album is very good, and Heartbreaker was excellent.

Have a great New Year-

A future quote from Mick - Jan 12, 2003, Boston, MA - "We're gonna try a number we've never done before, I think it's off of Goats Head Soup, sort of a ballad for ya. This one's called winter"

Nellcote I've not quite caught it for Ryan Adams. I got the one before it, at the used bin at Newbury. Couple a spins, eh, I guess I should give it a chance. Someone should get to those Durgin Park trained barkeeps at Sully's, get some music on the juke, make it look more like the Waiting on a Friend video....Great thing about that whole area, is you can move about easy!

Happy New Yeah,
12-31-02 10:40 AM
winter Nellcote:

I did not like the last Ryan Adams disk either (the one with the New York song). But the new album is worth picking up. However, it is quite depressing. For a while I was listening to the new Ryan Adams and the new Beck back to back. Good stuff, but you may need some prozak after a few listens. The last album to do that to me was Lucinda Williams, Car Wheels on a Gravel Road. Also and excellent buy. All of this assumes you like a little country twang -

winter Nellcote:

By the way I saw Peter Wolf in the Copley Mall last night. I think he still lives in the Pru. Anyway, I see him out and about at least once every couple of months. I said, "hey Peter great show at the Paradise" as he was passing buy, and he smiled and nodded.

I thought about trying to chat him up to see if he'd be hanging out with Mick again when the Stones roll into town. But I didn't want to be too intrusive.

Wintah goobah with the green teeth -
12-31-02 10:52 AM
Nellcote Yes, big, big Lucinda fan. She has IT! Although, Essence is too syrupy, like the late Herb Ritts produced it. Ended up finding the one before Car Wheels also, great. Found some live tracks on line, she smokes! We drove from Nashville to Nawlins last year, I was in high hog heaven!
Little of Hank III on the raydio, plenty of hooch, lots of pork chop breakfasts at Waffle House, yeah buddy, it was the balls! Shazam, I keep coming back to that XXXVI trip, It has so many tie ins...
12-31-02 11:06 AM
winter Nellcote:

the best song on her earlier album is Changed the Locks - a Tom Petty tune, which he also did on the She's the One soundtrack- great tune.

Her guitarist supposedly has a side band. I always thought about checking it out, but never got around to it - do you know anything about it?

wintah
12-31-02 11:15 AM
Nellcote Don't know about the guitarist....
It's always like that. John Hiatt has had several stellar guitarists, some of whom have had solo gigs. Sonny Landreth comes to mind....
I've found her & Elvis C on the live cut of Change the Locks, wicked pissa! Smolders....

Maxlugar Luxury!

While in Montreal, please visit the Raelian UFO theme park.

You'll have quite an "awakening".

I know I did.

See ya when I get back from Mars!

luxury1 SERGEI!! Thank you --you have returned in the nick of time. Please keep us "in the know" regarding MOntreal.
01-01-03 04:42 PM
muddy winter

changed the locks is a lucinda tune covered by tom petty

as for the guitarist,
on part of the essence tour, bo ramsey was playing guitar with her, he's also played with greg brown.

or you may be thinking of gurf morlix who was with her in earlier days
01-02-03 09:55 AM
winter muddy - bo ramsey was the guy I was thinking of. Thanks -

BTW, are you sure about Change the Locks - I thought Tom Petty wrote it, but that Lucinda recorded it first, then Tom "covered" it on She's the One. I may be wrong, just wondering if you know for sure-

thanks again,

wintah

exile I have been reading in the photo section of Virtual Ticket part of RS.com the Rehearsal Song list

with great songs like

SLAVE
going to a go go
RIP this joint
monkey man
casino boogie
sway
rocks off
silver train
can you hear me Knockin
short and curlies
torn and frayed

being practised by Ronnie and keith

is this some of the songs we can expect to hear in the club or arena gigs next month when the stones hit OZ?

muddy winter

changed the locks was definitely written by lucinda, her version came out in 1988, i don't know when petty's came out.

01-03-03 02:34 PM
luxury1 Max can't spell "rehearsal."
And another thing--I recently--finally--got my own copy of CS Blues--and yes, that is Mick pulling his rig. I'd know those hands anywhere. And I've watched it enough times just to make sure. I am now slowly going blind.
01-03-03 02:44 PM
nankerphelge Jesus -- since when did this place become the fucking Internet spelling bee?

And thanks for the certification on Mick's hand/one-eye coordination.

I love this place...
01-03-03 02:56 PM
luxury1 Oh, so you've studied it too nankerphelge??
01-03-03 03:07 PM
nankerphelge No I've never seen the movie or Mick's rig.
Besides, I don't know much about that kind of stuff.

jb When you dictate for the past 15 years like us, you really don't have to be a good speller.
