Yes, I have about the same feeling of their separation, a sort of marriage stuff, ugly for both sides. But I think the need to go to road and Brian's insecure health and visa problems was the final actual reason for the rest to make the unavoidable decision (that he is to be fired or lthat they let him go). It was not the reason in the first place (that was a long process), but the final pragmatic one to make it really happen.

Doxa, Iīm very impressed the way you present your opinion about that theme, I find it very sensitive and thoughtful, thanks!!! Do you think they even try to get a Visa for Brian?? I always wonder about that...it should be possible for the Stones managment (not Dick, lol)...to get a exemption?? I mean, if you have the money and you want a Visa, you get the Visa, you know?? I think it was, among other things, a good feed for the press and an excuse for the whole thing...

Sioux I'm sure they could have gotten a Visa for Brian to travel,
if they'd really wanted to. I don't think Brian would have
wanted to travel and tour at that point. And, I've heard
somewhere that "they" thought Brian was "too fragile" to
tour anymore.

I agree that Brian probably had emotionally left the Stones
a long time before he left the band. And I do think that
his musical interests were veering farther and farther
away from Mick and Keith's. So, the "marriage" was on the
rocks and was eventually dissolved.

i am really happy my lesson wasnt too complicated for you and that it helped you.. i first thought it might be a bit too confusing since my native language is everything else than english...hahaha.
oh fine... now you know how to do it... i am looking forward to other pics posted by you.
i will save the lesson for other people who might ask here.

ouch, i am drunk... reaaaalllyyy drunk... but not disgusting drunk..more fun-drunk...oj, and now i get hungry... lucky me, my fridge is full.. i probably will wake up the next morning in my bed surrounded by food and candy..and then i will ask myself "huh? what did happen here?"... and then i will think "ah, the usual shit.. drunk like a sailor and full of food like a wolf." hehe..

GhostofBrianJones Hey Sophia what is your favorite liquor? I was a beer drinker
then wine and then Gin. This was before all the fancy liquor they have out now all over the place. And before all
the various beers were in the store too. My favorite drink
is a Tom Collins but they are so out of date no one makes
them anymore. My Beer was Budweiser and my sweet drinks
were wines. Brian loved Blue Nun Wine. Anyone else?

I used to drink lager in the pubs over here but now my favourite tipple is white wine. For any experienced wine drinker,Blue Nun is a bit sweet but I guess Brian wouldn't have had a lot of choice as wine wasn't half as popular then as it is in the U.K today.Wasn't brandy another favourite of Mr Jones?

The pictures of Brian that everybody supplies here daily are wonderful.

Happy New Year to you, one and all! - I don't know about B.J.'s alcoholic preferences right before he died, but I know that Janis Joplin sang this song...though she preferred whiskey!

Cheers! W.D.

If this place gets raided, it's just me and my gin.

Don't try me nobody, oh, you will never win.
Don't try me nobody 'cause you will never win.
I'll fight the army, navy, just me and my gin.

Any bootlegger sure is a pal of mine.

'Cause a good ol' bottle o' gin will get it all the time.

Get me full of liquor and I'll sure be nice to you.

I don't want no porkchop just give me gin instead."

GhostofBrianJones That is right Brian did like his Brandy as well. And
Nicholas Fitzgerald also indicated he liked Rum and Coke.
It appeared he liked sweet liquors. I got drunk on Apricot
Brandy, it was good, and I was really young.

I like those pictures you guys posted they are great.
Keep up the good work!

Hibblette Honestly I don't think Brian would have had a problem getting a Visa. He had been in the States earlier that year. I really have never understood that about the Visa being a problem anymore then it would have been a problem for the others.
30th December 2007 05:53 PM
GhostofBrianJones I thought I read somewhere in a book that he did not want
to tour America again, although I thought he loved America?
When he was supposedly discussing this with the band he
indicated he did not want to tour or something like that.
Maybe he meant he did not want to tour with The Stones
anymore? There is so much in these books it is very difficult
to determine who said what and if it is true or not.

This is why I like pictures, those books can be very
confusing. My girlfriend just bought the Ronnie Book, I
am anxious to see how it is. I still prefer pictures of
Brian over anything else that I have already read.

LOVE TO S&K!!!

Hibblette It wasn't that he didn't love America or any other country it had to do with the whole touring scene. It's gruelling and from what I've read it got even more gruelling as time went by and the music scene began to change.

I remember reading an article on Paul McCartney and he was quoted as saying that it was way different in the 70's as compared to the 60's. From what I've read a show in the 60's might would have been an hour to an hour and a half. In the 70's the shows went to two hours and then with encores it could go another 30 minutes.

And they began carrying their stages around with them in the 70's instead of just the instruments and sound equipment.

But it was beginning to get real gruelling on The Stones and The Beatles round about 1966/67.

BriansBabe Yes, it is hard to tell what was true and what wasnīt... many people also want to make themself important by write books, or give interviews.
Itīs no wonder that Mick and Keith used to talk only a little about Brian, cause every word will be twist around, so they prefer to say nothing...

..."Brian will be sadly missed, because itīs hard to replace a legend!"
WELL, THATīS THE TRUTH!!!!

uh, i am not a fan of liquor and wine and all that other stuff... sure it tried it until there was no tomorrow when i was a teenager... but then i realized that i find it totally disgusting and that i dont feel good when i drink it... i also never liked the taste of such things.
i am only drinking beer... i love beer.. and i love the taste. and i love how i can control my drunkness.. when i feel tipsy enough then i stop. never liked to be that drunk. i hate to lose control over myself.
my favorite beer is most czech stuff. i love budweiser mostly too and radeberger! radeberger is the best german beer. it comes from dresden and holy hydra, it tastes fantastic. if you ever get a chance, try a radeberger! when you love budweiser so much you will like it too!
