Mississippi John Hurt - 1928 Sessions....
I LOVE this guy! Always have since the first listen.
Love his simple guitar, soft voice.
I can almost never get enough of him actually.
He prolly ranks in my top 5 artists that give me such pleasure in listening!
...Make me a pallet on your floor.
Wasen't he the original writer of Corrina Corrina?
Great fucking man he was, give him a listen folks, Mississippi John Hurt. |

Gimme red lipstick and a bright purple rouge
A shingle bob haircut and a shot of good boo'
Hurry down, sweet daddy, come blowin' your horn
If you come too late, sweet mama will be gone
That '28 session CD is probably the most beautiful CD I own, the easiest listening and best sounding 20's blues imaginable and a crucial touchstone for both Keith and Dylan. His music is so sweet it makes you want to cry.

Have you the Avalon Blues Tribute to Miss J H?
Haven't got that 28 Sessions disc yet, HAVEN'T EVEN HEARD ABOUT IT!
I love his disc called "Today"
It puts you in such a good mood to listen don't it?

Oh, my brother, are you gonna flip. If you have any trouble finding it, you let me know.
And yes, listening is much better than not listening, and hearing music is so much better than being bitter. Grooving to a new discovery right now -- Ms. Jerry Jones, an obscure Alabama/Jamaican Studio One Reggae/Soul/Funk songteuse from the early 70s. She sounds like the female rasta Al Green. |
