Left Shoe Shuffle |
Twas the night of the Stones show, and all ‘cross the land
The fans just can't wait for their favorite band.
Then - Mick’s up there dancing and pursing his lips,
Telling us all to "just shake your hips".
Keef cradles Micawber, smiles like only he does,
And starts Loving Cup - what a beautiful buzz.
Of course there on drums is the man most respected.
It's Charlie The Gent, all Cool, Calm and Collected.
You can't forget Woody, smoking off to the side,
Playing Little Red Rooster, and burnin' on slide.
Surprise, Surprise Bill Wyman's there too!
Can I Get A Witness? It’s too good to be true!
Mick Taylor steps up, and he sure came to play,
It's just that demon life that’s got him in it’s sway.
The Glimmers share a mic, it’s like olden days.
Together just as long as the guitar plays.
Meet Me In The Bottom has a dirty, bluesy groove,
Then comes I Ain't Superstitious and You Gotta Move.
Soon it’s Keith’s turn to sing, so he makes his call.
It’s that bittersweet country weeper, We Had It All.
Can’t You Hear Me Knocking you have to hear to believe –
Keyes on sax, Mick on harp, Keef and Woody on weave.
Out come the acoustics for Country Honk and Dead Flowers,
Love In Vain, Factory Girl - they might play for hours!
The band keeps on playing, and ‘round twelve o’clock,
They bring out Chuck Berry and just Let It Rock.
There's only one encore, as the hour grows late,
Keith says "aw, what the hell, let's do Hand Of Fate."
All too soon it's over, but then Mick makes us cheer –
“Merry Christmas to all, and we’ll see you next year!”

If it was possible I would have no reason to wish for it. |
