Please tell me that I am not the only one here who thinks that this little gem is one of the most under appreciated Stones performances ever. Perfect guitar interplay, beautiful vocals and harp solo by Mick, and Mr. Watts playing like, well, Mr. Watts. Hell, Chuck doesn’t even get in the way!
Plus, we get to hear Keith invent a new word at the beginning. What more can one ask for?

Love in Vain is indeed a stunning performance - love Ronnie's 'Arthur Who?' quip!!. Infact, the whole album is brilliant and underrated it seems. I really love 'Let's Spend The Night' and 'Beast' from the Stripped companion boot also. |

Yep! Totally agree. When I listen I feel like I'm in a smoked-filled whiskey bar singing the blues at a table right up front! |

I love this version. Its great. I'd like to know, however, all they said right in the begining. Can anyone help me here?
Anyway, I agree: a truly masterpiece.
I hated when I heard that Clapton also recorded the song. Hey, I dont even heard it. I'm sure is a crap compared with the Stones, and i dont wanna get a bad impression , etc etc etc...

quote: Once more man...sorry...I just missed...I missed the last...arr...I missed...I didn’t get the right...ahr...ahr...archipelagio - in - You know what I mean...?
Ronnie: “Hahah, Arfur who?”
“I hate that when I don’t get that in.”
[I don't read or play music but I think Keef, meant arpeggio as opposed to an archipelago island chain. ] |

I love it as well... However it's not a performance, it's done in the studio. |

A performance is a performance, wherever it is recorded: studio / live. All I know is that this album rocks big time.
What do you guys think of 'Shine A Light' by the way? |

...and the little Stripped video/show that was aired on VH-1, I think?, was also so special. |

It was in the studio but I do believe it was cut live with no overdubs so I still put it in the "performance" category. |

I think that Love in Vain has one of the finest openings ever and the fact that they play it twice in a row on Stripped is just genius.
