Ten Thousand Motels Queen's 'We Are The Champions' Voted World's Favourite Song
In a poll of 700,000...

gigwise.com

Queen’s ‘We Are The Champions’ has been voted the world’s greatest song in a massive poll conducted by Sony Ericsson.

A whopping 700,000 people were asked for their favourite tune in 66 different countries leading to a fairly surprising top ten.

Elsewhere in the top ten are Britney Spears with ‘Toxic’ at two, Michael Jackson’s ‘Billie Jean’ in second place, and The Eagles’ ‘Hotel California’ in fourth.

The results from the votes just in Britain threw up different results with Robbie Williams’ ‘Angels’ cracking into the top ten.

Amazingly Jacko had a stronghold on the UK top ten with a massive seven of the ten entries. Who fixes these results?

As undercover reports the top tens are as follows:

The global top 10:
1.’“We Are The Champions’ – Queen
2. ‘Toxic’ – Britney Spears
3. ‘Billie Jean’ – Michael Jackson
4. ‘Hotel California’ – The Eagles
5. ‘La Tortura’ – Shakira
6. ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ – Nirvana
7. ‘Yesterday’ – The Beatles
8. ‘One’ – U2
9. ‘Imagine’ – John Lennon
10. ‘Sultans Of Swing’ – Dire Straights

The UK top 10:
1. ‘Billie Jean’ – Michael Jackson
2. ‘Thriller’ – Michael Jackson
3. ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ – Queen
4. ‘Beat It’ – Michael Jackson
5. ‘Angels’ – Robbie Williams
6. ‘Smooth Criminal’ – Michael Jackson
7. ‘We’ve Had Enough’ – Michael Jackson
8. ‘Black Or White’ – Michael Jackson
9. ‘You Rock My World’ – Michael Jackson
10. ‘Welcome To The Jungle’ – Guns N Roses

Sir Stonesalot Oh piffle.

Everyone knows that the world's fave song is Midnight Rambler.

That other poll is just a hoax.

Nellcote It is an extremely powerful song.
The cut on Live Aid is the balls.
Freddie Mercury could hold a crowd like no other
Credibility is gone asunder with any list which has a song like Toxic as #2..

Toxic is a great pop song...the structure, the break, the video, this is perfect for charts and MTV.Like it or not , it's the best cheesy pop anthem of the decade IMHO.

ShaneJazz Good song, not in Queen's 50 best, however. Regardless, fantastic band and AMAZING lead singer, songwriter and performer. Freddie lives forever.....Midnight Rambler is amazing though, too, so props to whoever suggested that. They should have a Best songs ever Live category....MR has always been a showstopper live.

ShaneJazz I will stand up for Freddie, Roger, John and Brian! I fucking love 'em. Great live shows. Remember at Live Aid when Ronnie and Keith embarassed themselves and Queen dominated the show like no other. Its ok to disagree though, it's the holidays, and as we see, we all LOVE Midnight Rambler. For me, the single highlight of the FF dvds. Have a great holiday everyone.
December 25th, 2005 04:31 AM
blackandblue I agree with JB, the Lion and Moonchild!
