With the notable exception of the trite NeoCon and schoolboy-like ONNYA, ABB has some of the best lyrics on a Stones album in MANY years, primarily by Mick. Also, some of the most reflective lyrics of his career and some of his wittiest
my personal favourites - all of them showing a quite diverse writing style:
Laugh I Nearly Died
Dangerous Beauty
Biggest Mistake
which all happen, coincidentally, to be my favourite 3 songs on the album
I like the lyrics of Let Me Down Slow a lot, too.
There are a few lyrical throwaways on the album, though, so its hardly "Some Girls", which was his zenith as a lyricist IMO

Dangerous Beauty - clever, particularly compared with Neocon
Rough Justice - I'm a sucker for the barnyard, what can I say. Still the best song on ABB. There is nothing better than being on the b-stage rail when Ronnie plays this in your face. |

the good |
My favorite lyrics are on Rough justice, It won't take long, and Dangerous beauty. I actually like one line in sweet Neocon- the " I drink it everyday" line about gasoline. LIND has some good lines, but I hate the innane "been sipping champagne on the boulevard" line. I think of don't stop believing by journey, and that "up and down the boulevard line". I know we live in confusing times, but who ever thought that a Stones song would make me think of journey? Yikes.
