Does anyone think the Superbowl will help ABB over the 500k sold in the US? I'm not being unrealistic. I don't expect them to sell 100,000 the next week. But has the Superbowl traditionaly been a good selling point? |

No.
The people who watch the Superbowl...and moreso the people who would watch halftime...is not a music buying demographic. And certainly not a Stones type crowd.
They may get a couple thousand extra units, tops. |

I think it might help a little but not a whole lot...their back catalog sales might start to go up quite a bit though...I think there definitely is a good music buying public who watches the Super Bowl as well...I guess it all depends on what songs the Stones play....I am looking forward to it for sure! regardless if its lip synced or not... |

it will not be lip synced....Jake Cohl would not allow it and will personally test the mics |

The best we can hope for would be for a good performance to help offset the AMA damage. Back to zero...

More people will see the show outside the US than inside it. The whole point of the show is to promote their world tour, not their new album.
as they'll no doubt play about 3 oldies and nothing from ABB, the intended impact will be to give ticket sales a push rather than album sales. |

Will the Superbowl appearance help sales of ABB?
Probably not significant as commented above, but will help net profits equivalent to selling another million copies of ABB |

Mick lectures us (Americans) in the most recent issue of Rolling Stone (RS 990/991):
quote: This is a country that proclaims freedom of speech. You've got to be able to use that right. If you can't, what's it worth? Let's see what it's worth."
O.K. Mick, then launch into Highwire or Sweet Neocon at the Superbowl!
Just as I thought...

The last little sales push (if there was to be one)will have occured this week as some people buy ABB as gifts for Xmas....The Bowl will not be good as no one sounds good during those shows..and Keith in High Definition may be too much for some to handle! |
