They opened a show with Midnight Rambler?? I had no idea. I never would've imagined that. Fuck, it must have been amazing!

i tell you it was beer
it was amazing enough to see them there - i know i was expecting them to open with something like SMU or another fairly tried and tested opener but to when they burst on stage with that riff it really was mind - blowing - it sent an already thrilling atmosphere into a whole other stratosphere
btw all the best for the new year - does your missus ever get home sick for australia?? - let us know if you ever intend to come down this way |

The show at Chicago will be a blast whilst the one in Omaha will be by-the-numbers. Joey is making a huge mistake. |

Hey 'stonedinaustralia' i was at the enmore show too & i have to agree with you - Midnight Rambler is my most memorable live Stones moment too. Hey when everyone was lining up outside the Enmore, whereabouts were you? The reason i ask is that I was up the near the front of the line & I had a great chat with some blokes from SA - i recall one of them was a harmonica teacher, he gave me one of his business cards which unfortunately lost during the show. The other great live moment for me was when Angus and Malcolm joined the boys on stage - that was a very defining moment for me because not in my wildest dreams had i ever imagined seeing both lots of my rock heroes jamming together on stage. Seeing Keith, Ronnie, Angus and Malcolm up there nearly brought me to tears that night. I remember still being on a high at 2 in the morning & ring my guitar teacher here in Perth to tell him all about it. sigh.... |

I was the little bloke - about same height build as Angus Young. My best mate Phil was also talking to you blokes. I got interviewed by some bloke from a radio station (dunno which one tho). Phil was interviewed by that bird from Channel 10 Angela what's-her-face. I'm pretty certain that you guys were in that footage also. I've got it on video tape, there's a bit of footage with a group of us. I reckon you guys are in it. Will check later today.

I know I'm not in the same league as some of you Stones veterans as far as concert attendances go, but my highlight as far as songs played live that I have seen and heard would have to be Far Away Eyes.
"Far Away Eyes" was one of the rarer tunes that I've ever heard them play too. They did it on December 15, 1994 in Seattle. Are there any good tapes out there of this?
I was listening to some boots over the last few days, and it occurred to me that the Stones could really make things interesting next year if they dusted off just a few of the tracks that they have played since the "No Security" tour: "Some Girls," "Moonlight Mile," "Undercover," "Shine A Light," "You Got the Silver," "Hand of Fate," etc.
Have a happy holiday, everyone.

since 1967, it was only played as part of the medley with "If you cant rock me" in 1975-76, then not again until a few b-stage performances in 1999. I think they skipped it on the Licks tyour entirely.
So, to answer your question - not very often!
Sweet, that makes it even better! thanks gazza |
