NEW YORK - The top concert acts in 2003 and the money grossed from ticket sales, according to the concert industry publication Pollstar:
Bruce Springsteen (news) & the E Street Band — $115.9 million.
Celine Dion (news) — $80.5 million.
Eagles — $69.3 million.
Fleetwood Mac — $69 million.
Cher — $68.2 million.
Simon & Garfunkel — $64.5 million.
Aerosmith (news - web sites)-Kiss — $64 million.
Dixie Chicks (news - web sites) — $60.5 million.
Billy Joel (news)-Elton John (news) — $50.9 million.
Summer Sanitarium Tour with Metallica (news - web sites) — $48.8 million.
Dave Matthews Band — $47.1 million.
Toby Keith (news) — $44.2 million.
Shania Twain (news) — $40.8 million.
The Rolling Stones — $38.5 million.
Phish — $35.8 million.
Kenny Chesney (news) — $34.5 million.
Tim McGraw (news) — $32.7 million.
Justin Timberlake (news)/Christine Aguilera — $31.8 million.
Jimmy Buffett (news) — $29.3 million.
Pearl Jam — $29.1 million.
So the Licks Tour US gross was:
2002: $87.9
2003: $38.5

great to see some of my fave bands of all time (KISS, aerosmith, the stones, fleetwood mac) in the top ten of 03. the old rockers are often the best as this poll helps to prove! keep rocking old timers!!!!! |

The VL Lounge tour started in August. I guess they played shows closer together back then. This past tour they took several days off between some shows. |

Don't forget, these stats are based on the calendar year and not "tour" results. In the case of the Stones, the Sept-Dec 2002 (36 shows including the Palais) dates are not included.
It is, however, an interesting list.
