. . . is CANCER!
I'm back after my SECOND brush with Cancer this year! 2003 started with me having to get operated on for SKIN CANCER, then the fun continued when my Lymphoma came back.
My abdomen was FULL of cancer--it was hard to even see my organs with the CatScan. I also had a "special friend" tumor that was bigger then a grapefruit. Would have croaked in less than sixty days without immediate hospitalization (1 week) and chemo. 8 rounds of CHOP + R later, I somehow managed remission on 12/1/2003! It's been a tough year!
Anyhow, I listened to lots of Stones & Bowie during this time--even got an iPod so that I could listen during my 5 hour chemo sessions. I gotta tell ya, when you're facing extinction, even 'Back to Zero' sounds good!
Merry X-Mas, fuckers! : ) |

Thanks everybody!
Don't underestimate the healing power of the Stones! One thing that i've been treating myself to for the past year is "upgrading" my Stones catalog from the original LPs and early CDs to the ABKCO remasters. I've also just finished "upgrading" to the 1995 (?) Virgin reissues for STICKY FINGERS on up. Of course, the ABKCO remasters are mind blowing, but I'm also pleased with the Virgin stuff--major improvement in audio quality from the first Stones CDs that I eagerly snatched up at the dawn of the CD age. GOATS HEAD SOUP, in particular, sounds like a whole new album--beautiful. I wonder if we'll be getting hybrid SACDs of all of the Rolling Stones Records stuff in the next few year? If so, I'm jumping on them right away!
Gazza, iPods and iTunes/the iTunes Music Store rock! I'm a Mac-geek, so I may be biased. : ) Depending on your needs, you may want to hold out until early January--reliable Mac rumors have Apple releasing updated 'Pods as well as "mini-pods" which hold 2-4 GB of music for only $99! Yeah I would mate!
I got an MP3 + WMA player for myself. Cost 60 quid and is excellent..obviosly it aint an iPod but it beats fuckin around with cds tapes and shit on the tube or whatever your commute to work is. You can make different compilations everyday depending what mood you are in.
Keep on keepin strong lurid, the human spirit is stronger than you and we all think. |
