RICHARDS REACHES FOR THE SKY
ROLLING STONES rocker KEITH RICHARDS has unveiled the inspiration behind his songwriting - the sky.
The PAINT IT BLACK legend is convinced the secret of successful songsmithery can be gleaned from nature itself, which is always on hand to offer musical help.
He muses, "There's only one song in the world, a big one up in the sky - you just reach up and take whatever you need from it." |

oh what a beautiful man, he is so eloquent. now each time i look to the sky, i'll see keith. he does love nature, no wonder he is blessed with such a talent. |

This is the sort of comment that makes Keith look silly. |

keef never looks silly, stupid perhaps but never silly |

LOL, agreed glencar!
What a load of old bollocks

Pattie, stupid/silly, what's the diff? Alex is on my side! And it's definitely a dumb thing he said but I still love the music. Better he plays it than analyzes it. |

I just think it sounds like pot talk. Too much weed. |

He's probably trying to send a secret message to someone. |

To Sir Mick? |

Nah, that's through attorneys, not the sky. |

'scuse me while I kiss the sky.... |

i think i have the "translation" for you folks......if you look at MANY keith interviews, he says that songs just come to him, they drop onto his lap, he can't force the issue. my take is that he's saying the songs are a gift from above. |

aah...feel better.
(by the way, I shall think of Keith each time I see a wall from now on) |

very embarrassing..Keith has lost his edge..that's why we are stuck with those horrible ballads...very sad... |

caro, I shall think of YOU everytime I see a wall from now on... |

please do... I was born near the Berlin wall, by the way, so it will be appropriate. Oh, I feel I'm getting sentimental too. |

I thought you were an Aussie? |

I don't think the ballads are horrible - quite the opposite, I really loved "Losing my touch", but that of course subjective, everyone's entitled to their opinion sure enough.
But honestly, I think we pose the Stones with over-the-top extra large expectations. Why expect a guy who's been through things that can make for five different lives, to write ass-kicking fast-tempo rock 'n' rollers for all his life. Then again, I bet you that if he did that, there'd be people complaining that Keith is repeating himself or that he's become a caricature of himself and so on.
I like most of the ballads, I think we're talking about great songs. I loved "The Worst", "Thru and Thru", I love his reggae attempts.
From all the posts lately, I keep thinking that Keith deserves some respect that he ain't getting - instead he gets a lot of bashing and people seem unsatisfied with anything you can think of. |

Well it never hurts when things are more complicated than they seem. Aussie? No, although I'd have loved to grow up there.
By the way, Fotini, sorry if I seemed to be bashing Keith. I have nothing against his quote, I just get annoyed when people "over-romance" everything he says.

Gotcha, caro. I might have confused you with Corgi. Seriously.
Yes, I too like the KR ballads. Although it'd be nice for him to rock out again, it's probably not going to happen. Oh well, the ballads are still fine. |

I agree with you on that caro. |

I agree with the above post that Keith deserves some respect. Of course I also felt Mick deserves more respect than Keith has given him lately in the press. So what The hell do I know other than what goes around comes around! |

I think that Keith sometimes, well actually alot of the time, says something before he really thinks about it.Like the Elton John and Princess Di debacle.Pulling songs from the sky?Inspired by the sky?Don't quite get that one either, but whatever works. No one ever accused Keith of being politicly correct.Keith is just being "Keith".Gotta love the guy. |

That's one of the things I love about Keith. It can lead to disastrous consequences, but hey, you got to like a spontaneous reaction! |
