What Jumacfly says is not very different with what I say .
I have always made a diiference between what we call "the Americans" and the different administrations that have ruled the USA. For whom I have no real respect ( especially with the Bush administration : Rumsfeld ,Wolvovitz, Perle , Kagan , etc..). These people are really dangerous .
Another thing : do you know how many children DIED during the nineties when there was the blockade around Iraq ?...
THOUSANDS . That is not a lie .
Who decided the blockade ?
The Clinton administration.
Every Israeli child AND every Iraqi child killed is an HORROR .

Criticizing is not hating .
I enjoy very much reading some great American writers such as James Ellroy (have you read "American tabloid" ?..)., Faulkner , Hemingway and Dos Passos , etc...
I don't despise your country .
I have always loved American directors : Raoul Walsh , Howard hawks , and the best of all : Joseph Mankiewicz .
It would be too long (and tedious) to say all that I like.
Oh ,by the way , I can also criticize my own country .
